The Citizen

Downtown sac building "the Citizen" is a classic building that asks for beyond the standard treatment.  We were able to find neighboring hi rise structures to get the full NSEW images...and the Google Sketch Up version is complete while we will be building the MAX and TERRAIN versions.

All that n non fat!

There we go,

Thanks for stepping up Thursday.  We really wanted to test the work flow turnaround  with commercial real estate.   The key was that we tested Google Sketch Up against 3D max.   Sketch Up was faster but in tandem 3D max would give us the virtual fly around as a separate asset for clients.

With the terrestrial photos we were able to shoot to render within two hours!  More to come

Real Deal

Here are the first 3D models from Waikiki.   If you are interested in creating the high end photorealistic imagery from scratch (such as these) we are meeting this week to do a "side by side" comparison between Sketch up and 3Ds Max.

We are also gearing up for residential in Sac.   So need your scheds for the next week.

So it's a lot easier with a system finally in place.  I noticed that the roof didn't take but your really cant tell from the image off of GE.

Enjoy your break everyone!  We'll see you back on 9th of Sept.

South Lake Tahoe rises!

Casinos are tricky because they are designed to keep all visitors inside, using fancy angles and windowless walls.    We're experiencing the exteriors first because of the challenge in shape and height.  But hey they weather's great

We are now in the process of choosing high end homes in the sacto area.  They will be poly'd out and sent over to cyber city as our "wish list".

1,000 homes is the tall order but we have time.

EZRI and the News!

As you could see from the short video, that it was just set up day.  I was amazed at the size of a GEO Mapping etc. conference but the buzz around us was all about google, and it was cool to over-hear people some posturing their booth distance in relationship to Google Earth... Uhmm we shared a pole and drape together.

Like any conference set up session, I can't report anything out of the ordinary.  You know, a great relaxing late lunch after setup, and then of course drinks with Huey Lewis and the News.   Yes its true.  I was particularly intrigued by Kevin's dynamic knowledge of the Bass components and styles in music genre, so was John of the News.

Also, Peter Ding is a busy man!   We had a great meeting and I have my work cut out for us with high end homes...so our cert program is done and its time to get crackin'...and Peter thanks for taking the time with me...always exhilarating with all the growth in such a little amount of time.

I'm in beautiful Manhattan Beach bloggin' at sunset starbux of course, and a very very productive meeting with Kevin and Peter.  Thanks Guys!   We have a task ahead of us and we're ready!  ....(except for the lil neighborhood build out)...Andy gave me the location of the one he sent.

Cyber City is graciously going to build out V3D models to our wish list.  First and foremost we are going to select the biggest and best homes of sacto and open it up for business.   The other city is Reno, so get ready for that too!

I see that the second half of Old Sac (East Side) was a lot easier to do than the first half.  I'm guessing its because of the N.O.O.L.S.   What's that?  It's how we can manage the insanity when trying to orientate yourself through the design and layout process.

Take a look on the site in attachments under NOOLS to see how the terrestrial photos are labelled in order to ensure accurate mapping.   This will be perfected by Peter and Kevin down the road.

Thanks guys!

Analysis on Old Sac

Ok guys and girls,

So I bit off a lot challenges in this training for you and you are doing it! Nice work. Normally you would have a couple of house size buildings to work on and they would be labeled with a smart numeric system, but as you know we're in the beta phase of creating a smooth and efficient design program.

Some of you got lost, don't worry about it. The test on Old Sac was to "fly without instruments". Remember, the Capitol Buildings were multi storied and riddled with trees, but you were able to whiz through them on your first attempt because you were there and shot the terrestrial photos. You were familiar with the building that you were texturing, but with Old Sac I gave you one oblique angle on the NE corner prior to the clockwise shots around each structure. How would you know when a wall was a N S E or West wall? No labels...no fun...not nice. Sorry, I'm to blame, but I guess we now know how vital it is to have a bullet proof system.

Phil did the Crabshak (above photo) and was able to composite 7 photos for the long front, thats good work Phil. Most of you had 8 or 9 western style businesses leaning on each other to create an old town block structure. Again tricky, this is our commercial/retail style structures and they are going to be handled differently than residential. Houses are much more straight forward, so it will get easier.

Thanks Andy for the new neighborhood v3D files. We will be starting the neighborhood when I get back from Orange County next week. Training will be done when we finish the neighborhood.

have a good weekend

Inman Conference SPEECH Kevin Devito

Nice one Kevin!

Kevin's Speech CLICK HERE to you tube

This morning at 4:00 am I rushed to get to SF for the 8:30am panel discussion at the Palace Hotel, to support Kevin and Cyber City 3D. Having been a last minute plan, I forgot to tell him that I was coming. Then at registration in the back, I was surprised to learn that the day entrance would cost $675. I told the attendant that I was with the guest speaker and sure enough inches away from me, behind the curtain, Kevin popped out to get me in...thanks!

I video taped his introduction speech amongst a panel of six other major tech influences to the real estate industry, and I really have to say there's nothing out there close to Cyber City.

Excellent work Kevin...and after listening to several panels later, it was evident that the real estate industry is heading towards a truly submersed online experience, such as Cyber City 3D, to link owners, buyers and sellers in the near future.

Thanks for brunch too!

Cyber City Meets ITT

Wow,

Thanks for traveling over 1,000 miles round trip in a day just to bring us the big opportunity, Scott and Andrew.  As lead desginers for Cyber City they have the task of 3D"ing" the World of Google Earth...and here we are to help.

But folks needless to say, as our first round of terrestrial coverage and image mapping, we surpassed their expectations;  I also have to say WOW back to you!
